The CHAKRAS… I know, some of you may be thinking, wait a second, aren’t the chakras something those ‘woo-woo’ people talk about? The answer is yes AND they are also incredible for anyone and everyone!!
It’s been almost 20 years since I first learned about them. Ever since my first glimpse into this brilliant ancient system, they’ve proven to be one of the most powerful tools I know for helping empower and heal myself, as well as others (through the work I do with Yoga, Reiki and Coaching). They are a potent tool that’s supported me through personal growth points, life’s hurdles, and deepened my connection to my inner wisdom and intuition. I come back to their wisdom time and time again; they truly are a vehicle that helps me live a life I feel awesome living!
For centuries, people have used the Chakras as a system to understand the energy in our body. The challenging part of this system is understanding what “energy” really is. It’s not super tangible, but we are all made up of energy and we feel energy. We’re aware if our energy feels up or down, we can feel the energy in a room and we feel the energy of people. Unlike the floors, walls, or ceilings that surround us, what makes us alive is the life energy that flows within us.
So, what exactly are the chakras?
The Chakras are energy transformation points on the body. They exist along the center line of the body, beginning at the base of the spine and working up to the crown of the head. There are 7 Chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown. Each of them house different physical, mental, emotional and spiritual characteristics and qualities that help us govern and understand why and how we are.
If you’re interested in learning more about yourself and the magic of the chakras, I created a fun and simple chakra quiz. This quiz (along with the practical tips I provide at the end) will give you insight into which chakra’s you may want to work on and give extra attention and focus too!

Sunset Yoga session – practiced alongside my love, some great friends, sounds of wildlife, an incredible jungle and ocean views. Made even more magical as it was taught by an incredible teacher who has mastered teaching in a playful way while going deep into the part of yoga that really matters. So much gratitude! Wishing you a beautiful weekend filled with magic and love . . .
Smoothie date earlier this week! We stayed here back in November. Despite all the people that come and go, our friend at the smoothie bar remembered what our favourite smoothies were. It’s amazing how those little acts of thoughtfulness can really fill people up. What’s something small you can do today to fill someone up? . . . .
Motherhood invites the practice of ’embracing everything as it comes’ more than any other experience or role I’ve ever had.
My day with my littlest was filled with loads of laughter, silly-ness, and intoxicatingly magical, heart-filling moments.
AAAAAND…. moments of cranky, neediness from a combo of teething pain, growing, and trying to lose his second nap. Embracing the later with the same openness as the former, for me, takes deep breaths, loads of compassion, a full well, and the knowledge that ‘this too shall pass’.
When I am mindful of all this, I am able to feel such joy. I’m human, I have good days and bad days… Being aware and conscious is the first step.
As long as I can remember thanksgiving was a weekend I looked forward to. Being in nature, eating delicious food, inviting gratitude for life’s beautiful blessings and spending time with family.
On this beautiful weekend I feel so grateful to enjoy these beloved traditions of togetherness and appreciation with my littles and to deepen and establish new traditions with my (very own) family. Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. ????????????????????✨.
I am a strong believer that mama is the anchor of the family.
With the adjustment back to school, new baby teeth coming in, new projects and programs launching, my hubby being away half the month, super moons, and lunar eclipses, last month felt exhausting ????! And left me feeling like an unsettled, less grounded version of myself.
October seemed to instantly bring a welcomed feeling of calm for me, and all of us!! As I reflect on the past month, I am very thoughtful how much my “ungroundedness” (with LOTS – maybe too much – on my plate) played a role in everyone feeling less settled/grounded and not quite themselves (with, maybe, my sweet girl being the exception – she’s thriving as a JKer ????!).
I likely won’t ever know what all the variables are but, one thing seems for certain, when I feel my best everything with the littles seems way more steady, manageable, and in “flow”.
So, this weekend I plan ride this new flow and embrace some quality tune-in time with these sweet ones ????.
Full moons can bring out people’s sensitivities and emotions can run high! Throw in a super moon and lunar eclipse and things have the potential to get real intense ????☺️ – certainly did in my household this weekend!! Getting outside for some fresh air and exercise did wonders to help all of us reset and recalibrate.
The eclipse will be around 10:50pm tonight (but said to begin shortly after 9pm). If you and yours have been feeling its effects, know things will shift very soon. Phew! And if you’re up for it, head outside and see if you can spot this blood moon eclipse – it should be a beaut!
With today being Sept. 1 and the buzz of back to school thick in the air, I find myself wanting to hold on to the magical summer I had with my littles (with moments like ☝???? taken after a fun rainy morning at #balacade).
Today during my post “back to school shop” lunch date with the two biggest littles, I found myself getting emotional as we reminisced over the summer highlights, and I told them how much I loved our time together. They asked why I got teary. They gave me a hug. I laughed and said I feel “happy sad” – happy we’ve had such a great time and sad that you’re both soon going to be at school full days (how is my baby girl starting full day school?! ???? ).
I know all too well that the more we hold on the faster it seems to go, so today I took a breath and embraced my last #tuneintuesday with the biggest littles (for a while, anyhow). I know all we can do with things we love is cherish the memories we have and love them as much as possible in the moment.
Lately I’ve been feeling a bit like life is moving faster than me. It kind of feels like I’ve been among the wave, barely keeping my head above water. Not the way I comfortably roll. I much prefer to ride the wave (however uneasy/rough it may become). By the end of last week, I welcomed the “mama guilt” and overwhelmed feeling as a sign that I needed to regroup. It was time to shift things so I can more consciously enjoy this incredible season with my littles.
Yesterday I was able to really feel the ease of the season kick in. I enjoyed a fun afternoon with the bigger kiddos (you know those times that’re so great that you try to capture them a mental/emotional picture? Love). I was eager to get home to my baby, though, and arrived home to this… Man this boy knows how to fill my heart and make me feel special. I love how happy, open, loving and accepting he is. Looking so forward to my #tuneintuesdays to take in more from him and the other little monkeys. Hope you have a wonderful day.
I really wish the topic of sleep wasn’t such a polarizing topic among moms – so often it can leave people feeling inadequate or wrong. My approach has always been to remain connected and responsive to what feels best for me and my baby.
Each of my three babes have had different, and some similar, needs around sleep. My first baby slept 7 hours starting night 3 of his life (that stretch only got longer), and he only napped well if he was in the stroller until he went down to one nap per day. My second napped like a champ anywhere (I needed her to) but didn’t sleep more than 2 or 3 hours in a row at night until she was 14 months old. My third is somewhere in between for the night sleeps and naps amazingly if he’s in his crib. All of them love(d) to sleep to the sound of waves, co-slept (for various lengths of time), and prefer being snuggled with a song to sleep.
My wish is that moms will come to a place where judgement is released. Let’s honour our intuitive response for our babies, and be supportive of our individual wisdom/needs as moms.
