Welcome to Module #1 - The Root Chakra
The root chakra is the building block from which all the other chakras rest, it’s our foundation. The root houses the wisdom of how well we are supporting ourselves. As we deepen awareness of this chakra, we begin to realize where we need to create or strengthen our roots to establish a more solid foundation in life.
If the root chakra is unbalanced, growth will happen without strong, nourishing roots which will keep us from the stability we need for long term change. We need to establish healthy nutrient rich relationships, behaviours, habits and inner monologues to ground into (and create/support a solid foundation) so that we can shift into living our dreams and desires.
When the root is balanced, we are able to walk steadily in our life’s purpose. It’s in our roots that we find our deepest and most basic potential. Our society breeds us to be head strong and disconnected from our bodies and the earth. Getting in touch with ourselves, our bodies and nature, will help us connect more deeply to our most nutrient-rich roots. The roots that will feed us and help us to fulfill our life’s purpose so we can shine in all our potential.

ROOT CHAKRA JOURNALING EXERCISES:
I have given you a choice here so please pick and choose which exercises resonate the most for you right now – and know the others will always be here for you to come back too.
1) Make a list of the people, practices, habits and behaviours that nourish you most and/or leave you feeling the most energized (i.e. my best friend, Yoga, live music, eating healthy, getting enough sleep, remembering to breathe, daily intentions/mantras).
2) What do you need to do to create a more solid foundation/healthier root system in your life (to allow the tree, that is YOU, to grow in all it’s beauty)? What relationships, practices, habits and behaviours do you need to change? How/when are you going to do this?
To help hold yourself accountable in making these important steps (for YOU), draw on the support of our Awesome Souls group and share these action pieces in the group (you can also do so with one of the nourishing/energizing people in your life!).
ADDITIONAL TIPS AND TOOLS FOR THE ROOT CHAKRA:
I have given you a choice so you can pick and choose as you wish and engage in what resonates with you most.
1) Walking meditation – this is a powerful way to get grounded and feel connected with your body. Ideally done in a more natural setting (but can be practiced anywhere and en route to anywhere – i.e. on the way to work, an appointment or picking the kids up at school). As you walk, simply be aware of your feet touching the earth. Connect your breath to your steps and even count them if you like. With the support of each solid step, let this practice guide your awareness of your contact with the earth.
2) A beautiful way to awaken and balance the energy of the root Chakra is to ensure you are taking care of your body (move if you are feeling lethargic, rest if you are doing too much, eat healthy and right for your body, get a massage, and nourish your body with exercise/movement).
ROOT CHAKRA AFFIRMATIONS/MANTRAS:
I have given you a choice here. Pick one or two that resonates most with you – this may change and evolve over time. Once you connect to what resonates most repeat it (or them) 3 times at least once per day!
